WANA (Mar 13) – The U.S. Mission to the United Nations claimed that it will continue implementing Trump’s so-called “maximum pressure” strategy against Iran and will block Tehran’s financial resources used for destabilization worldwide.

Without addressing its full support for the Israeli regime as the main factor of regional instability, the U.S. alleged that Iran poses a threat to global peace and must remain under maximum pressure.

In a statement, the U.S. Mission to the UN asserted that former President Donald Trump considered Iran’s nuclear program a threat to international peace and security.

The statement further claimed that Iran has accelerated its high-purity uranium enrichment process and, unlike other countries, continues to produce highly enriched uranium despite not possessing nuclear weapons.

The U.S. Mission also accused Iran of openly disregarding UN Security Council resolutions, asserting that Iran has no peaceful purpose for its high-level uranium enrichment.

The statement urged the Security Council to take a clear and unified stance against Iran’s actions and to condemn them.

Washington emphasized that it will persist in implementing Trump’s “maximum pressure” strategy against Iran and will block Tehran’s financial resources to prevent global destabilization.

The U.S. claimed: “Washington will continue to deprive Iran of financial resources used to destabilize the world.”

The U.S. Mission, repeating its usual rhetoric regarding Iran’s nuclear program, also stated: “Washington will prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”

It further alleged that Washington is committed to ensuring Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader, in a Ramadan meeting with students, responded to these claims by stating: “Regarding nuclear weapons, they say, ‘We won’t let Iran acquire them.’ If we had wanted to build nuclear weapons, the U.S. could not have stopped us.”

He added: “The reason we do not have nuclear weapons and are not pursuing them is because we ourselves do not want them, for specific reasons. We have explained these reasons before. If we had wanted them, they [the U.S.] could not have stopped us.”
